FORGING attended the Research to Reality Conference, organised under the Belgian presidency in cooperation with the European Commission, that took place on 5 and 6 February in Brussels. The objective was to dive into the potential synergies between cutting-edge research in digital technologies under the Horizon Europe Programme and key initiatives under the Digital Europe Programme.
Several speakers , including Roberto Viola (DG Connect), Luc van den Hove (iMEC), Patricia Besson (Thales) and Walter Van de Velde from EU DG Connect delivered presentations over the two days. Walter Van de Velde gave an insight on the synergies from the Commission perspective, introducing the Digital Decade Compass for 2030 with specific and concrete objectives to achieve in Europe, that deals with digitalisation of businesses and governments, the overall infrastructures needed to support this and the skills behind. Furthermore, he presented the top-down and bottom-up approach to synergies to built trust and successful digital project delivery.
