The FORGING journey to uncover the potential of emerging technologies continues! On 14-15 November 2024, our partner APRE held the third co-creation workshop of the series Novel Enabling Technologies for a Sustainable Future, setting the scene for human-centered technological pathways that prioritize the environment and society. The event, hosted by the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (FORGING project coordinator) in Braga, Portugal, focused on Bio-inspired Technologies and Smart Materials and it concluded with the successful co-creation of 3 use-cases in this technological framework.
Thanks to a collaborative and highly interactive approach involving EU experts and innovators from industry and academia, cutting-edge technological solutions were explored to address human needs in three different application and adoption sectors (one per working group): agrifood, healthcare, and manufacturing.
In a session co-hosted with the FUNLAYERS project, Dr. Bruno Romeira (Staff Researcher at INL) delivered an insightful keynote speech showcasing his work at the very intersection of biology and technology. Fellow experts also presented relevant innovative solutions related to their work, entailing materials science, bio-inspired soft-robotics, biomedical engineering, and state-of-the-art drug testing tools.
FORGING consortium members facilitated the group discussions in each working group and provided all attendees with an overview of the project and of the latest project results. We look forward to the next co-creation event, and to further shaping together the future of innovation.
