The BIN@Porto 2024 Conference was an incredible stage for our project!
FORGING joined +350 international delegates for 3 interactive days on innovation within the framework of the Business & Innovation Network (BIN@) annual event: BIN@PORTO 2024 ‘Innovation for Resilience‘ from 22 to 24 October 2024 in Porto (Portugal).
A series of thought-provoking talks and panel discussions intertwined networking and cultural activities. FORGING was on the spotlight in Smart industry action tank skilfully moderated by Professor Gil Gonçalves. Esteemed panel members joining Brigita Jurisic from INL presenting FORGING, were Leonardo Dicker from XR Lab, Miguel Ribeiro from SMARTEX and Antoni Pijoan from EIT Manufacturing. The panel provided insights into how advanced technologies like AI, IoT, automation and others are driving industrial competitiveness and sustainability. By connecting machines, devices, and systems, smart industry enables real-time data collection and analysis, improving efficiency, productivity, and decision-making. Predictive maintenance, agile production, and customised products are just a few positive outcomes. Furthermore, the role of industry as a key contributor to societal well-being and environmental sustainability was highlighted, going beyond being merely a driver of the economic growth.
BIN@ annual event is a unique innovation gathering and an exciting networking opportunity that connects academia, science & technology parks, incubators, tech based firms, investors, and many others. The 2024 edition of BIN@ annual event in Porto was a highly motivating experience with open sessions, action tanks (panels dedicated to different topics), tech demo and business showcase, workshops, complementary events, surprising social programme and many other initiatives.
BIN@ – founded in 2010 by three universities, Porto, Sheffield and São Paulo – is an international network of academic and industry partners engaged in supporting open innovation and the creation of sustainable forum for sharing good practices and opportunities in innovation. The network has currently more than 5000 delegates worldwide and so far has held 19 international events in Portugal, the UK, Brazil, Romania, Poland, the Netherlands and Estonia.
